Enhancement and Enrichment

Aim

SCORE is the lead organisation for the enhancing and enriching the science curriculum programme in the STEM Framework (link to STEM Framework). This programme aims to improve the access to high quality provision of enrichment and enhancement activities in schools.

Description

Working with ACME and the Royal Academy of Engineering, together with DCSF, SCORE has supported the development and production of a series of three STEM Directories. These provide teachers with an easy to use reference that contains details of leading enrichment and enhancement opportunities across the country.

The aim of the directories is to enable schools and colleges to make more informed choices, and thereby also help providers to improve the quality of their schemes and to reduce unnecessary duplication.

During the next phase of this work, SCORE will sit on the strategic management group for enrichment and enhancement, and help to shape the development of future priorities in this area.

Informed by the science education community

The directories have been developed by a consortium including the BA, the Royal Institution and UWE. They have worked closely with providers and schools to ensure that the directories meet their needs.
